Registered Nurse (RN) PRN Staff Nurse in Louisburg, NC

Purpose: To provide exceptional nursing care to patients by adhering to physician's orders, state and federal regulations, and our facility's policies and procedures. Essential Job Functions and Requirements: • Conduct walking rounds at the beginning and end of each shift while effectively exchanging patient reports. • Accurately count narcotics at the shift's start and finish, ensuring accurate records by initialing the count sheets. • Perform fingerstick tests as prescribed by the MD during the scheduled shift. • Administer all medications (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, or intravenous) as directed by the physician, following facility policy. Medications may be given within a 60-minute window of the prescribed time. Administer tube feedings and initiate IVs as required. • Regularly monitor critical or ill patients, meticulously documenting observations and notifying the supervisor or MD as necessary. • Observe patients for any symptoms or reactions while assessing their overall physical and mental condition for signs of adverse change; report findings to the supervisor or MD as appropriate and document in the nurses' notes. • Guide and supervise nursing assistants and orderlies while overseeing their provision of care. • Ensure the accurate monitoring of care provided by nursing assistants and orderlies, including vital signs, range of motion exercises, ambulation, and rehabilitation support. • Complete incident reports and communicate with the physician when needed. • Maintain accurate nursing documentation in accordance with facility policies. • Manage the admission of new patients, completing necessary records including Nurses Admission Record, Nurses Notes, and dietary requisition while checking MARs. • Facilitate patient transfers and discharges as ordered by the physician. • Assist physicians during patient rounds as required. • Provide necessary support to patients during MD examinations and treatments. • Promptly notify the MD of any medication administration errors. • Document PRN medications along with their effectiveness on the PRN sheet. • Carry out scheduled treatments during your shift and document appropriately. • Monitor specific skin conditions, documenting changes weekly or more frequently if warranted.
