Adolescent Psychiatric RN – Nights
• Location: Lewiston, Maine
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Schedule: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3x12-hour shifts)
• Unit: Psychiatric Adolescent
Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) is an essential member of the Patient Care Team, responsible for delivering direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process in all areas of the unit. The RN delegates appropriate interventions, supervises as needed, maintains a safe environment for effective care, provides education to patients and families, and collaborates with other healthcare professionals in planning and managing care.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to adolescent psychiatric patients during night shifts.
• Utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
• Delegate tasks appropriately and supervise support staff.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and coping strategies.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
• Respond effectively to crisis situations and manage high-stress scenarios.
Required Skills & Experience
• Current Maine RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
• Graduate of an approved nursing program.
• Ability to work well in high-stress situations.
• Responsible, supportive team player.
• 1–3 years of previous nursing experience working with children and adolescents.
• Basic Dysrhythmia training (or obtained before completion of orientation).
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training (or obtained before completion of orientation).
