Job Summary
Position: Neuroscience / Stroke Quality and Education Coordinator
This role will primarily focus on staff and community education related to stroke care, aiming to elevate clinical performance, improve patient outcomes, and enhance community awareness.
The successful candidate will play a key role in achieving and maintaining high performance on our stroke program metrics and supporting accreditation standards
Qualifications:
• Minimum (2) two years of recent/current clinical experience in Neuroscience, Stroke care, Emergency Department, or Critical Care settings
• Demonstrated experience in Adult Education, Staff Development, or Clinical instruction
• Strong knowledge of stroke standard of care, evidence-based guidelines (AHA/ASA), and quality metrics
• Excellent communication, presentation, coaching, and interpersonal skills
• Experience with community outreach or public speaking on health-related topics
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Microsoft Teams
Certification and Licensure:
• Graduate from an NLN accredited Nursing Program
• RN licensure in the State of New Jersey or an approved compact license required.
• Bachelor s degree in Nursing (BSN) required
• Master s degree in nursing or a related field preferred
• Registered Nurse Certification in Neuroscience Nursing (CNRN) or Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN) preferred, or willingness to obtain within 12 months of hire
Scheduling Requirements:
• Full-Time, 37.5 Hours
• Occasionally work evening or weekend hours business hours to attend, lead community and staff related education events
Essential Functions:
Staff Education & Development:
• Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs and materials for nursing staff and other healthcare professionals focused on stroke standard of care and best practices
• Provide real-time coaching, mentoring, and support to staff and leaders during clinical events, including attending Code Strokes, to ensure adherence to protocols and facilitate immediate learning opportunities
• Educate staff on key program stroke metrics and data collection, emphasizing the impact of their performance on patient outcomes and program success
• Collaborate with the Stroke Program Manager and clinical leaders to identify specific educational needs and areas for process improvement
• Ensure all education initiatives meet the requirements for relevant certifying and accrediting bodies (e.g. Joint Commission, American Heart Association/American Stroke Association)
Program Support & Performance Improvement:
• Actively participate in efforts to achieve high performance on stroke quality metrics, analyzing data to inform educational strategies
• Support the stroke program in maintaining a state of readiness for accreditation and certification reviews
• Serve as a clinical expert and resource for all staff regarding neuroscience and stroke care
Community Engagement & Education:
• Plan, coordinate, and conduct community education events both within the hospital and at external locations (e.g. community centers, senior living facilities, local businesses)
• Educate the public on stroke awareness, including recognizing signs and symptoms (e.g. using the F.A.S.T. acronym), the importance of prompt activation of emergency response systems (911), and risk factor modification
• Track and report on community education activities and attendance to demonstrate reach and impact
