Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated RN to serve as a School Nurse at a Technical Campus in Wixom. This role is ideal for nurses who want to make a direct impact on student health and wellness while enjoying a stable, school-based schedule.
Job Details:
Pay: $38/hr
Schedule: Full-Time, follows the 2025/2026 school calendar
Hours: Monday- Friday 7:15a-3:15p
Assignment Length: Through 2025/2026 school year (return in fall for 2026/2027 school year.
Responsibilities:
• Completes assessment and monitoring of any acute or chronic health needs of students and staff as needed.
• Collects emergency action/care plans and health plans from healthcare providers for students with chronic health care needs. Develops and maintains a written individualized healthcare plan for student health concerns that are consistent with the students’ health condition. The care plan is congruent with physician orders, district policies and procedures, and state laws and guidance.
• Provides first aid and direct nursing interventions consistent with the written plan of care.
• Has effective organizational skills, possesses ability to critically think through health-related situations and emergencies, can systematically solve problems and has competent communication skills (verbal/written).
• Develops and maintains a comprehensive school health program that is consistent with state and district school health standards.
• Documents nursing care and teaching competently and consistently. Is able to compile accurate reports.
• Responsible for set-up and maintenance of the health office/ clinic.
• Provides training to support staff to recognize and respond to student and staff emergencies.
• Participates with a multi-discipline team to develop, review, revise protocols, procedures, and guidelines related to the prevention and control of health problems, accidents, and injuries and the maintenance of a healthy school environment.
• Provides resources for access, continuity of care, and care coordination for students and families through a multi-discipline approach in collaboration with school staff and community partners.
• Seeks to be a lifelong learner by participating in educational opportunities to stay current with best and evidence-based practices in health care
• May provide mental health and social support to students in collaboration with a multi-discipline team.
• Educates students, staff and others on health topics to promote health, maintain a safe environment, prevent disease, and emergency response.
• Lead designated school staff in at least one medical/cardiac drill during the school year followed by a debrief with feedback for school staff.
• Always exhibits professionalism with good attendance and timeliness of arrival at building.
Requirements:
• Active RN License in the state of Michigan (Required)
• Experience in public health, school nursing, or community health (Preferred)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
