Registered Nurse - Special Care Unit in Crystal Lake, CT

Position Summary:
As a Registered Nurse in the Special Care Unit, you will report directly to the Clinical Nurse Manager. Utilize the nursing process to provide high-quality, patient-centered care while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team. Your ability to communicate effectively about patients’ conditions and respond swiftly to changes will be essential.
Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current licensure in the state of Connecticut.
• Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support is required upon hire or during the introductory orientation period.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform comprehensive assessments of patients in the medical and surgical population, addressing psychosocial and physical needs.
• Administer age-appropriate care, demonstrating growth and development understanding.
• Manage and assess pain effectively, providing education to patients and families.
• Develop and revise individualized care plans based on ongoing assessments and patient responses.
• Ensure the correct administration of medications following established protocols.
• Document nursing processes and patient responses in a timely manner.
• Exercise critical thinking and sound judgment to prioritize care under stress.
• Create and evaluate teaching plans for patients and families, ensuring inclusivity.
• Maintain professional growth and serve as a role model for others.
• Provide clear reports during the transfer of patient care.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately according to ACLS guidelines.
