Registered Nurse Stepdown Unit in Basehor, KS

Location: South Basehor Overview We are seeking a Stepdown Unit Registered Nurse , internally referred to as our Cardiac Care RN. In the Stepdown Unit (PCU) or Cardiac Care RN will provide specialized care to patients with acute and/or chronic medical conditions who require close monitoring, intervention, and support to optimize their outcomes and facilitate their transition to lower levels of care. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRNs needed. Shift’s Available: Variable Employment Type: Per Diem (PD/PRN) Hours: Nights 7p to 7a Location: Saint John Hospital - Leavenworth, KS Here are some of the benefits of working at Prime Healthcare: • Competitive compensation • Medical insurance benefit plan • 401K • Sick leave accrual Responsibilities • Conduct assessments of patients' conditions, including vital signs, cardiac rhythms, neurological status, respiratory status, and overall clinical stability; monitor changes in patients' conditions and respond promptly to any deterioration. • Utilize telemetry and other monitoring devices to continuously monitor patients' cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation levels, blood pressure, and other parameters; recognize and interpret abnormalities in monitoring data. • Administer medications as directed by physicians, encompassing intravenous medications, antibiotics, pain management medications, and cardiac medications, while vigilantly monitoring patients for any adverse reactions or side effects. • Perform nursing interventions and treatments as ordered by physicians, such as wound care, catheter care, suctioning, and administration of oxygen therapy, including assisting with procedures. • Adhere to evidence-based practice guidelines, hospital policies, and protocols related to patient care, infection control, and safety. Qualifications • Current and valid state RN License. • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current. • Completion of Critical Care Course preferred. • Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current. • Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred. • Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred. • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
