International Health and Medical Services, headquartered in Houston, Texas, provides contracted healthcare support to government defense and civil agencies and government contractors, including support to military exercises and operations, diplomatic missions, natural disasters, and refugee care. Job Description This project is in the proposal stage, and we are awaiting contract award. International Health and Medical Services seeks an experienced Registered Nurse Supervisor to lead our nursing team and ensure exceptional healthcare delivery to patients while adhering to regulatory standards. This vital role includes overseeing daily operations, addressing clinical issues, and nurturing a collaborative environment to optimize patient care and support staff development. Key Responsibilities • Manage and evaluate care provided by nursing and allied health staff on a 24-hour basis. • Consult with discipline experts to effectively address practice and performance issues. • Serve as a clinical expert responsible for supervising and delivering direct patient care. • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care delivery, emphasizing age-specific considerations. • Coordinate care focusing on patient education, self-management, and overall satisfaction. • Demonstrate strong decision-making and interpersonal skills. • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to spearhead innovative process improvement initiatives. • Exhibit leadership in managing complex client care and executing position responsibilities effectively. • Oversee training and development for staff, evaluating individual performance. • Act as a role model, educator, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. • Influence patient care outcomes by collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement evidence-based programs. • Conduct initial patient triage and ongoing assessment and treatment of acute/urgent symptoms in collaboration with the provider. • Utilize critical thinking and communication skills to provide outstanding patient care. • Triage presenting symptoms using nursing protocols for evidence-based care. • Perform vital signs assessment, specimen collection for lab tests, medication administration, IV fluid administration, and 12-lead EKG as needed. • Execute point-of-care testing and accurately document patient care. • Strictly follow infection control guidelines to ensure safe patient care. Qualifications Basic Requirements/Certifications: • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon. • A minimum of six years of professional nursing experience. • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. • At least one year of experience demonstrating the ability to successfully interact with the public and apply complex written and verbal orders, rules, and regulations. • Ability to maintain composure under stress and demonstrate good judgment and alertness. Education Required: • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is necessary. Physical Requirements: • This position is considered hazardous duty, requiring walking and physical exertion. • Ability to jog/fast walk up to ¼ mile and lift objects greater than 30 pounds. • Must be capable of performing emergency care and assisting patients or staff in emergencies. • Must possess the ability to see, hear, and smell with aids if necessary. Other Special Qualifications: • Must be at least 21 years of age and maintain residency in the continental U.S. • Pass a medical examination conducted by a licensed physician prior to initial assignment. • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residence status is required. • Must have lived in the U.S. for the last five years (unless on official U.S. government duty abroad). • Successful completion of a thorough background investigation. • Ability to obtain necessary security clearances. • Proficiency in Spanish is preferred. Additional Information The pay range varies based on several factors, and final salary will be determined by the applicant's background, experience, internal equity, and geographical market data. Full-time positions are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, 401k plan, paid time off, and an annual bonus.
