Responsibilities:
The Recovery RN’s primary responsibilities will be focused on providing excellent customer service to each and every patient. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Pre-operative Duties
• Assesses the status of patients’ health in pre-op and ensures identification.
• Ensures that operative consents are signed.
• Initiates IVs and confirms that the patient is ready for preoperative marking.
Post-operative Duties
• Assesses patients’ condition after surgery.
• Ensures that all vitals are within normal range.
• Logs all findings on recovery record.
• Answers patient questions and ensures that they are kept confidential.
• Makes sure that IVs are in check.
• Delivers medication for pain or nausea as instructed by anesthesia or physician if needed.
• Confirms that all nursing activities are carried out in accordance to individual patient care plan.
• Monitors patients for condition changes and reports any to the physician.
• Determines when patients are ready to go home.
• Performs intervention duties in cases of post-operative emergencies.
• Changes bandages if needed.
• Initiates patient education to both patient and care giver on procedures and medications.
Other
• Assists with phone triage.
• Prints and documents prescriptions for patients.

• Detail oriented, feels comfortable working with clinical information, numbers, math, and both patient and practice financials
• Excellent communication skills; works well in a group setting with a focus on resolution in all endeavors
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
• Desire to work in a dynamic, fun, and fast-paced environment
• Strong ability to multi-task and take on new tasks as assigned; maintains prompt response time to patient and physician needs
• Confident speaking one-on-one with both patients and physicians, knowledgeable and integrity driven; seeks to solve conflict in difficult customer situations
• Education, Experience and Training:
• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training.
Certifications:
• Valid and clear North Carolina RN license.
• BLS-ACLS
Computer Skills:
• Microsoft Windows
• Medical Practice Management Software
