As a Registered Nurse (RN) in our Surgical Services, you will work under the guidance of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator. Your primary responsibilities will include:
• Conducting ongoing assessments of patients' physical and psychosocial conditions throughout their care journey.
• Creating, communicating, and documenting individualized care plans tailored to address patient needs while collaborating with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Implementing and coordinating care plans alongside your healthcare colleagues.
• Evaluating the effectiveness of care plans and making necessary adjustments, including referrals as appropriate.
• Identifying patient and family educational needs and providing relevant learning opportunities.
• Serving as a preceptor for new staff members and taking on a charge nurse role when required.
• Meeting performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, and professional development outlined in performance reviews.
• Demonstrating competence in caring for neuro patients, including skills in neuro assessments, airway management, and support during special neuro procedures.
• Performing suctioning procedures, managing patients with tracheostomies, and handling patients using halo braces or on ventilators as per protocols.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Proficient in electronic patient records and able to conduct literature searches online.
Experience: Not applicable.
Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse License from the State of Connecticut.
Special Skills: BLS certification required.
