
Registered Nurse - Surgical Services in Lordship, CT

You will work under the guidance of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator, where your responsibilities will include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising individual patient care. You will also supervise non-RN personnel and may be called upon to work in various nursing units based on patient and staff distribution. Additionally, you will engage in other duties as assigned to maintain high service standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Continuously assess patients' physical and psychosocial conditions throughout their care journey.
• Develop and communicate individualized plans of care that reflect patient needs and desired outcomes, involving patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Implement and coordinate the care plan in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and make necessary adjustments, including referrals as needed.
• Plan educational initiatives tailored to the learning needs and readiness of patients and families, documenting outcomes effectively.
• Act as a preceptor for new staff, facilitating their integration into the team.
• Take on the role of Charge Nurse when required, delegating and supervising unit activities.
• Meet performance expectations in customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development.
• Perform various duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
• Demonstrate competency in caring for neuro patients, including advanced neuro assessments.
• Manage the airways of neuro patients and provide care for patients with tracheostomies.
• Assist physicians during special neuro procedures with professionalism and expertise.
• Understand and support the 'TIA' teaching program.
• Oversee suctioning procedures (pharyngeal, endotracheal, tracheostomy) following established policies.
• Exhibit skill in the use of equipment and care for patients in halo braces.
• Demonstrate responsibilities and interventions for ventilator patients.
Qualifications
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Proficient in electronic patient records and capable of conducting literature searches for patient care.
Experience: Not applicable.
Licensure: Valid Connecticut Registered Nurse License required.
Special Skills: BLS certification is necessary.
