Registered Nurse - Telemetry Job Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Telemetry unit provides direct patient care, monitors vital signs, administers medications, and collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This position requires a strong understanding of telemetry monitoring and cardiac conditions, as well as excellent communication and critical-thinking skills. Key Responsibilities • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. • Monitor vital signs and telemetry readings, and promptly report any changes or abnormalities. • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians. • Collaborate with physicians, other nurses, and healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans. • Educate patients and families about their conditions and treatment plans. • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record (Epic). • Respond to Rapid Response and Code teams as needed. • Perform phlebotomy and manage IVs, central lines, and PICC lines. • Provide wound care and manage surgical drains. • Manage patients with feeding tubes, renal failure, and PCA pumps. • Care for ventilated patients and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs). • Provide tracheostomy care and management. • Administer blood products. • Adhere to isolation precautions and use appropriate PPE. • Float within the facility and scope of practice as needed. Required Qualifications • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse. • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia (GA) or compact state. • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification. • Experience with Epic charting system. Preferred Qualifications • Previous travel nursing experience. • Experience with cardiac telemetry monitoring. Skills & Competencies • Cardiac Telemetry Monitoring • PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown experience • Telemetry monitoring on the unit • Use of Rapid Response/Code teams • Post Cardiac Angiogram care • Post MI care • Pre/Post Cardiac Cath care • Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery care • IV insulin protocols • Feeding tube care and management • Renal failure management • Phlebotomy • PCA management • Surgical drain management • Care of Ventilated Patient • Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs) • Tracheostomy care/management • Wound Care/Wound Vac • Interpretation of dysrhythmias • Management of dysrhythmias • Blood Product Administration • Central line care/management • Peripheral Line Care/Management • PICC line management • Starting and maintaining IVs • Heparin Protocols • Knowledge of Sara Steady and other lift equipment • Ability to manage the following cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration): milrinone (Primacor), dobutamine (Dobutrex), Amiodarone, Cardizem, Lidocaine, Bumex, Heparin Shift Details • Night shift: 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00) • Every other weekend Licensing Requirements • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia (GA) or compact state must be in hand at the time of submittal.
