Job Description
The Thought Disorders Unit at Sheppard Pratt Health System is a 21-bed unit that treats patients with psychotic illnesses, including Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Disorders, as well as Neuropsychiatric Disorders. Patients are treated under the expert care of experienced psychiatrists, nursing, and other clinical staff. With an average length of stay between 10 and 14 days, the Thought Disorders Unit is unique as it is one of the few specialized units across the country that specifically cares for patients with psychotic illnesses.
As a Registered Nurse/RN you will:
• Perform a full range of professional psychiatric nursing services, including assessing, planning, administering, and evaluating patient care in accordance with team treatment plans.
• Administer medical treatment as prescribed by physician.
• Teach and provide psychosocial support to patients and their families.
• Provide day-to-day clinical direction to assigned Mental Health Workers or other paraprofessional staff.
• Document and report patient progress to treatment team.
Requirements:
• Must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Maryland (or compact state) at time of appointment and continuously while in position.
• Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting preferred.
• All new clinical staff will begin their extended clinical orientation/training immediately following your first day of employment.
• AHA CPR required before first day of employment
What we need from you.
• Must hold current registered nurse (RN) licensure to practice in Maryland at the time of appointment and maintain licensure throughout the duration of employment.
• Candidates residing in a compact state may apply with a multistate license and must obtain a Maryland RN license within 60 days of relocation.
• Experience in a psychiatric nursing setting is preferred, but not necessary.

Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.

The pay range for this position is $37.08 minimum to $56.83 maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, years and level of related experience.
