As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will work under the supervision of the Nurse Manager/Clinical Coordinator. Your primary responsibilities will include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising patient care in accordance with unit policies and procedures. You will also provide guidance to non-RN personnel within your assigned unit and may be asked to work in other nursing units based on staffing needs. We are committed to maintaining the highest service standards, and your role is essential to achieving this goal.
Responsibilities
• Continuously assess the patient's physical and psychosocial condition throughout their care journey.
• Collaborate with the patient, family, and healthcare team to develop and document individualized care plans that address specific patient needs and desired outcomes.
• Implement and coordinate care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary healthcare team.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans, patient responses, and preparedness for discharge, making revisions and referrals as needed.
• Identify and plan educational needs for patients and families, providing appropriate resources and tracking outcomes.
• Serve as a preceptor to new staff members to facilitate their integration into the team.
• Take on charge nurse responsibilities when needed, delegating and supervising unit activities efficiently.
• Meet performance expectations in customer service, teamwork, resource management, and personal and professional development.
• Perform additional assignments as directed to ensure smooth departmental operations.
• Demonstrate competency in the care of neuro patients, including specific skills in neuro assessments and airway management.
• Provide appropriate suctioning techniques as per established policies for patients with tracheostomies or requiring ventilatory support.
• Utilize knowledge and skills in the care of patients using a halo brace and those who are ventilated.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Proficiency in utilizing computer software, including electronic patient records, is essential. Strong research skills to access relevant literature regarding patient care are highly valued.
EXPERIENCE: N/A
LICENSURE: Valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Connecticut.
SPECIAL SKILLS: BLS certification required.
