Registered Nurse - Trauma ICU Location: Omaha, NE Start Date: 03-02-2026 End Date: 06-01-2026 Contract Type: Travel Contract Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts including weekends — Day: 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM; Night: 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM (posting is primarily for nights). Self-scheduling with manager oversight; 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period. Roles & Responsibilities • Provide exceptional critical care to adult and adolescent trauma patients in a Level I Trauma ICU • Titrate and manage vasoactive drips, paralytics, sedatives and other infusions safely and confidently • Interpret telemetry and bedside monitors (Draeger) and act quickly on abnormal findings • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including RT, physicians, and support staff to optimize patient outcomes • Perform advanced bedside tasks and assist with devices such as arterial lines, Swan-Ganz catheters, IABP and Impella as needed • Participate in unit-specific orientation and demonstrate clinical competency (open-book orientation exam requires 90% pass) • Float to inpatient units as needed, excluding Maternity/NICU, while maintaining high standards of patient care Qualifications • Active RN license eligible for practice in Nebraska (License to submit required) • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (current) • Minimum 2 years of critical care / ICU experience — trauma experience strongly preferred • Must not be a first-time traveler; no license or background hits will be accepted • Valid driver’s license required at time of submittal (used to confirm radius rule) • Able to pass unit orientation exam with a 90% score (open-book, resources provided) • Willingness to follow facility policies (e.g., no artificial nails) and to work collaboratively on a fast-paced unit Education • Active RN license (required) • BSN not required Knowledge & Skills • Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition • Experience with EPIC charting system • Familiarity with arterial lines, Swan-Ganz, EV-1000 hemodynamic monitoring and ICP monitoring • Comfort with IABP, Impella and rapid transfusion systems (Zoll Thermoguard, Bellmont) • Ventilator management and ability to troubleshoot respiratory devices • Skill in titration of vasoactive medications, sedation, paralytics and antiarrhythmics • Strong critical thinking, communication and teamwork abilities Benefits • A supportive team that values YOU — collaborate with experienced trauma nurses in a Level I center • Licensure assistance & reimbursement to keep your credentials current and stress low • Paid time off to recharge and maintain your work-life balance • Medical, dental & vision coverage to keep you and your family healthy • Professional development and on-unit training — real-time training on advanced monitors and devices • Life insurance and basic protection for peace of mind • Travel reimbursement and help getting you settled for the contract • Referral bonus program to reward you for bringing great teammates Travel Perks: Explore Omaha, NE Omaha is a delightful Midwestern hub — explore the world-class Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium, stroll the cobblestone Old Market with its shops and restaurants, walk the scenic Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge (stand in two states at once!), visit Lauritzen Gardens or the Joslyn Art Museum, and enjoy local breweries and a surprising culinary scene.
