Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to serve as a Unit Manager within our healthcare facility. As the Unit Manager, you will oversee daily nursing operations, coordinate patient services, and ensure compliance with healthcare standards. Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive supervision and management of nursing staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
• Oversee patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, and medical documentation to ensure accurate and timely care delivery.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary communication to facilitate effective discharge planning, case management, and utilization review processes.
• Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, and safety standards across all nursing activities.
• Administer medications, IV infusions, injections, and manage complex medical procedures such as catheterization and ventilator care with precision.
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Cerner or Epic to document patient information accurately and efficiently.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives by analyzing clinical data, implementing best practices in acute care settings including ICU, emergency medicine, or long-term care environments.
• Support staff development through supervising training on medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), sterile processing, and other technical skills necessary for specialized units such as pediatrics or behavioral health.
Requirements
• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current state certification.
• Proven leadership experience in nurse management or supervisory roles within hospital medicine, ICU, or long-term care settings.
• Extensive clinical background including critical care experience, emergency medicine, or geriatrics; familiarity with Level I/II trauma centers is advantageous.
• Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth; experience with medical documentation and coding (CPT, ICD) is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology relevant to diverse patient populations including pediatrics and seniors.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex cases involving dementia care, behavioral health issues, or patients with disabilities.
• Excellent communication skills for effective triage, patient assessment, family education, and team collaboration.
• Additional qualifications such as basic life support (BLS), IV insertion/venipuncture expertise, infection control practices, and experience with specialized procedures like spinal taps or cardiac catheterization are highly desirable.
