
Registered Nurse/Medical Surgical in Belville, NC

Required Skills, Certifications, and Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in an inpatient setting.
• First-time travelers are welcome.
• Experience with Med/Surg, colostomy care, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, heparin, insulin, surgical drains, chest tubes, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, isolation precautions, wound care/wound vac.
• ONC certification required. Must be able to administer chemo if needed.
• BLS certification.
Preferred Skills, Certifications, and Experience:
• CPI certification.
• Charge nurse experience.
• OCN certification.
Job Details:
• Primarily medical-surgical patients with oncology history.
• Target nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6.
• Night shifts available.
• Contract duration: 13-26 weeks.
• Call requirement: Required if called off on a prescheduled shift.
• Floating requirement: Floating to similar units and alternate care locations as needed.
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend required.
• Participation in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events, mass casualties, or disasters.
Patient Diagnoses:
• General medical-surgical diagnoses including AKI, sepsis, cancer, septic shock, pain, OD, malignant neoplasms, ARF, encephalopathy, FTT, diabetic foot ulcers, heparin drips.
• Administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy via IV, PO, or injection.
Special Procedures/Unit Details:
• Daily census: 42 patients.
• Possible higher ratios during increased census.
• Equal assignment to home unit staff to ensure coverage.
• Attendance at monthly staff meetings required.
Unit Systems:
• Medication: PYXIS
• Documentation: EPIC
• Communication: SBAR
Unit Orientation:
• 24 hours (2 shifts)
