Fairview Health Services is looking for a collaborative Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Maple Grove Ambulatory Surgery Center team located in Maple Grove, MN. The RN will work in the endoscopy, GI and pre/post procedural areas. This is a 0.6 FTE position that is benefit eligible. The Surgery Center is open Monday- Friday between the hours of 6:30am and 4:00pm. Shift start time vary based on need.
The primary function of the Registered Nurse is that of a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability through the nursing process, for the care of the patient and significant others in collaboration with other health care providers.
Responsibilities
The primary function of the Endoscopy Nurse is that of a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability through the nursing process, for the per-procedural care of endoscopy patients and significant others in collaboration with other health care providers.
• Possesses knowledge of and the ability to perform duties in accordance with established standards for Endoscopy Unit practices as set forth in the system GI policies and procedures. Monitors patient's airway and circulation with the assistance of applied monitoring equipment.
• Monitors equipment, fluid lines, tubes, drains and catheters as needed.
• Administers drugs ordered by physician and handles drug related problems that occur.
• Makes independent clinical decisions regarding patient’s need for nursing care and communicates with appropriate personnel.
• Demonstrates skills and knowledge in IV therapy, medication administration and its effects; possesses ability and knowledge of Conscious IV sedation.
• Administers IV medications as per doctor order. Insures accurate labeling and documentation of patient specimens.
• Coordinates care for patients and families in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team across the continuum of care.
• Synthesizes assessment data and diagnosis. Plans interventions and expected outcomes to provide patient & family necessary information.
• Serves as clinical expert/resource to patients, families, health care team and community.
• Assists the patient in coordinating appointments and provides education for patients.
• Coordinates multidisciplinary team conferences.
• Communicates with referring health care providers regarding comprehensive plan of care for patient and family.
• Works closely with physicians and departments to deliver coordinated care in a timely manner.
• Works with multidisciplinary team to develop quality monitors to measure patients’ outcomes and program performance.
• Assesses learning needs of patient, family, and health care team and creates, implements and evaluates multidisciplinary educational plan.
• Utilizes current research, scientific literature, and advanced practice knowledge when providing education for patients, families, community, and staff.
• Consults with and teaches patients and families about their diagnosis, disease process and plan of care. Collaborates with other team members regarding specific teaching needs.
• Provides formal and informal education for health care team and hospital staff as needed.
• Serves as a resource for the community to provide public education.
• Participates in ongoing educational activities to expand advanced clinical knowledge and enhance role performance.
• In collaboration with physicians and provides consultation to influence the comprehensive plan of care for patients, family, community, and program areas.
• Serves as expert resource to patient, family, and staff.
• Assists patients to navigate through the program and services/procedures needed during diagnostic workup and course of treatment.
• Serves as Program Liaison to community through a variety of communication sources.
Required Qualifications
• Graduate of professional nursing program.
• Curent MN Nursing License
• 1-year endoscopy experience or procedural experience
Preferred Qualifications
• B.S./B.A. in Nursing
• 2-year endoscopy experience or procedural experience
• SGNA Certification
• ACLS
Qualifications:
