
Registered Telemetry Unit Nurse | Racine, Wisconsin in Racine, WI
Job Description
Provide specialized nursing care to medical-surgical patients in a well-equipped hospital setting. This contract position is based in Racine, WI, with shift hours from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM on a six-week rotation cycle including every other weekend and holiday. No on-call duties are required.
Responsibilities include:
• Monitoring and managing patients with various medical-surgical conditions, including tracheostomies, chest tubes, and wound vacuums
• Interpreting cardiac rhythm strips and administering IV infusions such as Lasix, insulin, and heparin drips
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary team members including CNAs, unit clerks, rapid response teams, phlebotomy staff, and charge nurses
• Utilizing EMR (Epic), IV pumps (Alaris), and medication dispensing systems (Pyxis) to ensure accurate patient documentation and medication administration
• Floating to different medical-surgical units as assigned by the house supervisor
Qualifications and experience:
• Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in medical-surgical settings
• Registered Nurse licensure, current BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
• Proficient in telemetry monitoring and familiar with med-surg clinical procedures
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team in a level IV trauma center environment
• First-time travelers welcome
