The RN, with a focus on patient safety, is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting. The RN functions under his or her own license and assumes accountability and responsibility for quality of care provided to patients and their families according to the standards of nursing practice. The RN demonstrates responsibility for continued competence in nursing practice, and develops insight through reflection, self-analysis, self-care, and lifelong learning.
SHIFT AND SCHEDULE
PRN; 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
· Thorough knowledge of practical nursing theory, standard practices, rules, and regulations
· Complete a comprehensive assessment. This includes the initial and ongoing, extensive collection, analysis and interpretation of data.
· Screens and responds to patient calls with ability to direct to home care, Primary Care Provider, ER or clinic as determined in the triage process
· Provide medical advice per approved triage guidelines
· Ability to keep accurate records
· Evaluate and report patient outcomes and responses to therapeutic interventions in comparison to benchmarks from evidence-based practice and research findings, and plans any follow-up care and referrals to appropriate resources that may be needed.
· Able to communicate effectively with physicians, licensed personnel, and/or other personnel while working with other facilities and outlying communities to facilitate the transfer of patients.
· Coordinate with additional service lines/programs/marketing projects as assigned
· Possess adequate computer skills which demonstrate the ability to effectively utilize computer programs and phone systems
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
· An associate’s degree (ADN) or diploma in nursing is required. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is preferred. Our aim is that MMH nurses are prepared at the BSN level. We are committed to support your pursuit of a BSN education. A BSN and certification in clinical area of expertise will be required to advance within the clinical nurse professional practice ladder.
· Two years clinical experience preferred
· Current State of Texas License as a Registered Nurse
· Certification in area of specialty (e.g., CEN, CPEN, CCRN, CNOR) preferred
· CPR (BLS from American Heart Association) required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The individual must be able to: Ø Stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, lift, see, speak and hear. Lifting is limited to 35 lbs. for clinical staff and to 50 lbs. for non-clinical staff.
