Registered Nurse – Cardiac Observation Unit Location Not specified Assignment Duration This is a 13-week contract position. Schedule Three 12-hour shifts, with varying start times (0600-1830, 0700-1930, 0800-2030). Call requirements apply on a rotational basis. Job Description The registered nurse in the Cardiac Observation Unit provides a high level of care for patients undergoing procedures in the Cath Lab. The nurse evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements, and documents nursing care. Assisting physicians during examinations and procedures, the registered nurse performs various patient tests and administers medications within the scope of practice. Responsibilities • Admit and prepare patients for Cath Lab procedures, including charting and IV starts. • Prep patients for Cardioversions and Transesophageal Echocardiograms. • Recover patients following Cath procedures who have had conscious sedation. • Sedate, circulate, and document bedside procedures, including Cardioversions and TEEs. • Discharge patients with appropriate teaching, documentation, and physical discharge procedures. Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure • Current RN license in Arizona or a compact state. • Current ACLS certification. • Current BLS certification. • Experience in PACU, ICU, telemetry, Cath Lab, or surgery center preferred and considered on a case-by-case basis.
