Job Description
The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN provides direct patient care within the scope of practice and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of care in the ICU. The nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to assigned patients, communicates with the physician about changes in the patient’s clinical condition, including hemodynamic monitoring, diagnostic studies, and abnormal results. The RN must respond quickly and accurately to changes in conditions and/or responses to treatment while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
• Utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
• Provide direct patient care in the ICU setting.
• Communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare team members regarding patient condition.
• Teach patients and families about care plans and health management.
• Direct and guide nursing personnel in their tasks and responsibilities.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to regulations and standards.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS (AHA or Red Cross).
• Current ACLS (AHA or Red Cross).
• Minimum 1 year as a staff RN in an acute care hospital, specifically in critical care.
