Strict 75-mile radius rule enforced. Description: Unit has 4 fast track clinic rooms with ESI 4-5. Total of 12 beds, including 2 trauma bays. There is 1 seclusion room available for psychiatric patients. Average of 70 patients seen per day. Ratios are 1 nurse to 4 patients. The electronic medical record system used is Meditech. A charge nurse is present but does not take patients. 1 paramedic per shift typically runs the clinic and responds to trauma or codes. ER techs are also available, with at least 1 per shift, and typically 2. Nurse externs who are nursing students may assist as well. Security personnel and patient sitters are utilized for psychiatric holds and 1-on-1 observation. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Holidays rotate in with permanent staff. Scrub color is hunter green pants with a white top and white jacket. There are no tele/monitor techs on staff. Ventilation support is available. 1 MD and 2 mid-level providers are present per shift. Nurses can perform their own lab draws, with laboratory support available. An IV team is available to assist with midlines and challenging IV access from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday. Respiratory therapy support is available 24/7. Pharmacy services are in-house during the day and after hours via a remote system. Common patient diagnoses range from neonates to geriatrics, including minor walk-ins and trauma cases. Trauma cases will be stabilized and transported via air ambulance if necessary.
