Job Description
Summary
• ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Instructs, maintains and ensures appropriate documentation for learning episodes or educational processes.
• Assists in the orientation process and program for staff.
• Continuously evaluates and modifies educational processes to meet the needs of the learner and organization.
• Utilizes the principles of adult learning, cultural diversity and individual learning styles in planning educational opportunities.
• Plans, provides, and monitors individualized nursing care in response to specific patient needs within a defined scope of practice.
• Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care respective to the assigned patient population.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
• Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license required.
• RN specialty certification preferred.
• MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
• Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice.
• Bachelors of Science in Nursing required or actively enrolled in BSN program with graduation within three years.
• Technical and professional knowledge and skills for clinical operations of relevant area, usually acquired through 3 to 5 years of progressively more responsible clinical experience, required.
• Pediatric experience required.
• Knowledge of and ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications preferred.
• ACLS training required and/or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
• CPR training and PALS training required or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
• Obtains BLS, CPR, and PEARS instructor status and BBP trainer status within 12 months of hire and maintains during course of employment.
• Ability to travel required.
• Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing.
• WORKING CONDITIONS
• Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
