Emergency Department Registered Nurse – Contract Opportunity
A Level 1 Trauma Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide critical care in the Emergency Department. This 58-bed department manages over 60,000 urgent and emergent cases annually, including pediatric care through its affiliated children’s emergency services. The role involves collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and participation in advanced programs such as ECPR (ECMO), cardiac catheterization, stroke care, burn treatment, and trauma response.
Location:
This position is based in Sun Prairie, WI. The facility is affiliated with a Magnet-designated university hospital renowned for excellence in patient care, research, and teaching. Parking permits are required for onsite parking, and multiple transportation options are available, including buses and park & ride services.
Schedule/Hours:
• Night shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am
• Weekend and holiday rotation required
• 8- and 12-hour shifts available as needed
Qualifications & Experience:
• Current Wisconsin nursing license or compact license valid from your permanent address state
• Minimum two years Emergency Department experience with both adult and pediatric patients within the last three years
• Experience in an academic Level 1 trauma center or a hospital of similar size
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred
• Epic electronic health record experience within the last 12 months preferred
• Certifications: BLS, PALS, ACLS (American Heart Association only), and TNCC
• Basic arrhythmia knowledge with willingness to pass a telemetry test prior to assignment start
• Travelers must live within 50 miles of the assigned site and be flexible to float to multiple departments as needed
Responsibilities:
• Deliver prompt, high-quality emergency nursing care for diverse patient populations
• Coordinate with transport teams, trauma surgeons, and subspecialists
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic interventions under emergency protocols
• Participate actively in a progressive emergency program that encompasses cardiac, stroke, burn, trauma, and pediatric care
