Salmon, Idaho Experience
The Staff RN is responsible and accountable for the care of the patients and directs others to assure patient care which is based on patient needs, values, and choices. The Staff RN is expected to practice autonomously within the scope of professional standards, the rules, and regulations established by the Idaho Board of Nursing, and knowledge of policies and procedures within Steele Memorial Medical Center (SMMC). He/she demonstrates skill in developing and guiding collaborative collegial practice that delivers safe competent care based on meticulous application of the nursing process. He/she demonstrates sensitivity and understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds of patients and caregivers. The position involves maintaining current knowledge of evidence based nursing practice and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process. He/she actively participates in patient care quality and performance improvement through data collections, aggregation and analysis of relevant key indicators of quality. This commitment to quality results in the development and implementation of action plans to include the monitoring of the effectiveness of improvements.
Duties:
• Performs initial assessment on patients presenting to the ED and documents assessment findings in the EMR
• Performs and records vital signs/oxygen saturations and documents findings in the EMR
• Notifies ED provider of patient arrival and findings of inital assessment
• Re-evaluates patients condition as needed and documents findings in the EMR
• Explains treatments, rationale, and expected outcomes to patients and/or patient support system
• Collaborates with patient and/or patients support system in education of treatments, medications, preventative measures and follow-up
• Maintains a confident, secure atmosphere
• Accurately completes the medication template of the patient's EMR in compliance with SMMC Medication Reconciliation Policy
• Accurately completes the allergy template of the patient's EMR
• Participates in the restocking of supplies in the ED
• Make nursing decisions within ht escope of licensure and according to established hospital policies and procedures
Requirements:
• Current State of Idaho RN license or Compact State equivelant
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within one year of hire date
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within one year of hire date
• TNNC required within one year of hire date
• NRP required within one year of hire date
