Job Description
The Registered Nurse holds shift accountability for providing care to Emergency Room patients by utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and Hospital policy and procedures. The registered nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgement, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the safe delivery of care to patients in the Emergency Department. They maintain clinical competencies through continuing education and delegate patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of the staff available. The registered nurse also provides direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering patient care.
Responsibilities
• Utilize the Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
• Anticipate and plan for safe delivery of care in the Emergency Department.
• Demonstrate leadership in patient care through critical thinking and scientific judgement.
• Maintain clinical competencies through ongoing education and training.
• Delegate patient care priorities based on staff education and experience.
• Provide direction and supervision to assigned personnel.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience in a Level 3 Trauma Center.
• Current ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, and NIH certifications required.
