Job Summary Provide professional, evidence-based nursing care for patients undergoing GI procedures, functioning as the procedures nurse and/or recovery nurse. Coordinate with physicians, anesthesia, and perioperative staff to ensure safe preparation, vigilant intra-procedure monitoring, thorough documentation, and a smooth recovery and handoff. Key Responsibilities • Assess patients and develop nursing care plans appropriate to the GI Lab setting. • Communicate professionally with patients, physicians, families, and team members. • Monitor patients and respond to changes; apply knowledge of electrocardiography, drug therapy, and emergency procedures used in the unit. • Manage post-operative recovery needs; reinforce discharge instructions and patient education. • Uphold infection prevention and unit policies; ensure safe environment of care. • Complete accurate nursing notes and patient charges in the EHR. • Promote patient safety and welfare at all times; escalate concerns promptly. • Participate in call rotation to support urgent/emergent cases. Job Qualifications Required • Current Arkansas RN license (or compact RN eligibility). • BLS at hire; ACLS and PALS within 1 year of hire. • Ability to communicate effectively with providers, staff, patients, and families; ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. • Successful completion of NARMC pharmacology competency. • Demonstrated knowledge of patient care, medications, and recognition of emergency situations with appropriate action. • Ability to participate in call per department needs. Preferred • Prior GI/Endoscopy or perioperative nursing experience. • Knowledge of methods specific to the GI Lab (or ability to complete on-the-job training). • GI certification (with CE requirements for recertification). • Consistent participation in department meetings and in-services. Compensation & Schedule • Status: Full-time (PRN/part-time considered based on need). • Schedule: Primarily aligned to procedure schedules; call rotation required (may include evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays). • Pay: Competitive base pay with applicable differentials; details discussed during the interview process.
