The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides comprehensive direct and indirect patient care, applying the nursing process to plan and implement treatment and education. They collaborate closely with physicians, healthcare team members, patients, and families to ensure quality care and effective communication. The RN is required to hold a valid nursing license, possess critical care certifications, and have recent professional nursing experience.
Description:
The Registered Nurse in the ICU provides direct and indirect patient care. He/she applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. The Registered Nurse must possess good communication skills and must be able to effectively communicate with physicians, peers, patients and families. He/She works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure quality care is delivered.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Bachelor's degree (BSN) preferred.
Minimum of six (6) months' recent experience as a professional nurse.
Required Skills
Demonstrated proficiency of 50 percent of the skills required for Level II.
Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR current or within 30 days of hire
ACLS current or within 1 year of hire
PALS current or within 1 year of hire
Completion of a Basic Arrhythmia Class within in 1 year of hire
Required Licenses Current Registered Nurse license to practice in the state.
