Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by assuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees, focusing on patient safety and employee safety.
Responsibilities
• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission and develop individualized plans of care.
• Identify teaching needs related to diagnosis through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses in accordance with policy.
• Participate in the patient rehabilitation program and ensure direct care through the nursing process.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient education from the day of admission.
• Communicate pertinent information regarding changes in patients’ statuses to ensure continuity of care.
• Provide training and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel.
• Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital and nursing policies.
• Maintain effective communication with management regarding service needs.
• Assume charge responsibility as required after the orientation period.
• Engage in professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
• BLS certification required prior to the first shift.
• ACLS certification required prior to the first shift (CIRH ONLY).
• Minimum two years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
• Completed a minimum of one assignment with the current agency is required.
• PCU experience is required.
