Job Title: RN – Infection Prevention & Control Manager Location: Sitka, AK Position Type: Full-Time Position Overview The Infection Prevention & Control Manager (IPCM) is responsible for the surveillance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). This role leads the development, implementation, and oversight of a comprehensive Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Program across a multi-site healthcare system. The IPCM ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and national regulatory standards and evidence-based infection prevention practices, including those established by CMS, CDC, OSHA, FDA, and Joint Commission. This position plays a key leadership role in protecting patients, staff, and communities through education, policy development, monitoring, and performance improvement initiatives. Key ResponsibilitiesInfection Prevention & Control Program • Develop, implement, maintain, and update the Infection Prevention and Control Plan • Ensure alignment with regulatory agencies and nationally recognized best practices • Draft, review, and implement IPC-related policies and procedures • Monitor compliance with infection control standards across all departments Data Collection & Reporting • Collect, analyze, trend, and report infection prevention data • Maintain accurate records and statistical reports • Submit required data to the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) and other regulatory agencies • Serve as a resource to clinical and non-clinical departments regarding infection surveillance Education & Training • Serve as the subject matter expert in Infection Prevention and Control • Stay current with emerging literature, guidelines, and best practices • Provide education and training to staff, patients, families, and communities • Conduct new-hire and annual IPC orientation and training programs • Maintain collaborative relationships with public health agencies and external partners Leadership & Oversight • Chair the Infection Prevention & Control Committee • Participate in additional committees and interdisciplinary teams as needed • Provide oversight of the Employee Health Program • Supervise assigned staff and support performance development Travel & Site Support • Travel to multiple healthcare sites to conduct assessments, education, and training • Travel may include air, small aircraft, and ferry transportation Education, Certifications & Licensure • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license (Alaska or other U.S. state) • Alaska license application required prior to start date if not already active • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field (Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology, or similar) • Master’s degree (MPH, MSN, or related field) preferred • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required • BLS (Basic Life Support) required within 3 months of hire and maintained biannually • High School Diploma or equivalent • Completion of required clinical and managerial competencies within designated timelines Experience Requirements • Minimum 3 years of experience in: • Acute care infection prevention/control and/or • Data collection, performance improvement, or risk management • Experience with epidemiological principles and basic statistics • Long-Term Care experience preferred Knowledge & Skills • Strong working knowledge of epidemiology and infectious disease principles • Understanding of regulatory compliance and accreditation standards • Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and performance improvement methodologies • Advanced computer skills, including MS Office and database applications • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Ability to translate regulatory and evidence-based guidance into actionable policy and education Core Competencies • Program management and evaluation • Data collection, trending, and reporting • Independent and team-based work • Professional communication with clinical, administrative, and executive leadership • Ability to work effectively across multiple departments and disciplines Required Certifications • Registered Nurse License (State-specific, in good standing) • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) • Basic Life Support (BLS) • Clinical Competency Assessment • High-Risk Competency For more details reach at jmckenzie@navitashealth.com About Navitas Healthcare, LLC: It is a certified WBENC and one of the fastest-growing healthcare staffing firms in the US providing Medical, Clinical and Non-Clinical services to numerous hospitals.
