A contract opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse to provide specialized care on a medical-surgical/oncology unit. This position is focused on supporting adult patients facing cancer diagnoses, palliative care needs, and related education, alongside urology and telemetry patients. Location: Position is based in Charleston, WV. Charleston offers a blend of urban amenities and outdoor recreational activities, located along the Kanawha River. Key Responsibilities: • Provide nursing care to medical-surgical and oncology patients, including administering treatments and supportive care. • Manage complex patient needs including telemetry monitoring, central line draws, ports, blood administration, and PCA pumps. • Assist with bone marrow aspiration procedures and pleurx chest tubes. • Support patient and family education on oncological processes and palliative care. • Potentially administer chemotherapy (preferred). • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to maintain quality patient care. • Float to other units as needed, within scope of practice. Qualifications and Experience: • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience required. • Current RN license for West Virginia or Compact RN license; pending licenses may be considered. • BLS certification required; ONCC or ONSS certification preferred. • Experience with telemetry, chemotherapy administration, and complex procedures as noted. • Ability to work night shifts, 3x12 hours (7p-7a), every other weekend with some floating. Additional Details: • Patient ratios: 5-6:1 during night shifts. • 29-bed adult unit with varied patient care needs. • Contract shifts available in 36 or 48-hour increments with at least 36 hours guaranteed. • Flu vaccination required during specified seasonal periods.
