Job DescriptionUW Medical Center-Northwest - Medical-Surgical Unit at the Center for Behavioral Health and Learning has an outstanding opportunity for a Nurse Manager.This unit follows a dual management structure, where different managers oversee different floors. This position covers the 3rd floor and oversees 25 beds and 60 staff.WORK SCHEDULEFull time / 100% FTEPrimarily day shifts Monday-Friday, with additional hours as neededDEPARTMENT DESCRIPTIONThe Medical-Surgical Unit at the Center for Behavioral Health and Learning supports a wide range of individuals, including general acute care patients, telemetry monitoring patients, and patients with multiple behavioral health comorbidities.We have 50 beds split between two floors. This position will specifically manage our third floor, which has 25 beds.Our patients receive holistic treatment, addressing their physical, medical, and mental health needs.POSITION HIGHLIGHTSIdeal for a nurse leader with expertise supporting medically acute patients and patients with underlying psychiatric diagnosesThe Center for Behavioral Health and Learning is a first-of-its-kind facility designed to transform the way we approach mental health carePRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIESProvide dynamic leadership to a team of 60 staff, including Registered Nurses and Certified Nursing AssistantsFoster a culture of accountability through coaching, mentorship, and shared leadershipEnsure high-quality, evidence-based patient care consistent with current best practicesMonitor patient flow, throughput, and resource utilization to maintain efficiency in a fast-paced hospital environmentMaintain compliance with state, federal, and accrediting bodies’ regulationsLead and participate in quality initiatives and performance improvement effortsSupport onboarding, education, and continuous learningCounsel employees and utilize the disciplinary process when appropriatePromote a culture of safety by actively identifying risks, addressing patient and staff concerns, and participating in incident investigationsMonitor department budget, and manage staffing ratios, supply usage, and equipment needsPropose cost-effective strategies that support quality patient careServe as a liaison between frontline staff and hospital leadershipREQUIREMENTSBachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State2-3 years of nursing leadership experience in psychiatric and acute careKnowledge of ITA laws preferred, but not requiredABOUT UW MEDICAL CENTER-NORTHWESTUW Medical Center is an acute care hospital located in Seattle with two campuses: Montlake and Northwest.
