Position Summary:
The RN is responsible for assessing patients, planning care, and delivering quality nursing services to a defined group of patients within specified work periods. This role includes supervising LVN/LPNs, nursing assistants, unit secretaries, and other clinical/clerical support staff. Depending on assignment, the RN may function as a charge nurse for the unit and will provide care to a diverse patient population including older adolescents, young adults, adults, older adults, and children.

• Develop comprehensive nursing care plans based on thorough assessment.
• Implement and evaluate patient care as per nursing and interdisciplinary care plans.
• Effectively document nursing progress notes and flow sheets.
• Provide patient education and adapt teaching resources to meet needs.
• Communicate accurately and confidentially regarding patient care observations.
• Foster collaborative relationships with team members and provide constructive feedback.
• Identify and report unsafe practices, proposing corrective alternatives.
Core Competencies:
• Utilize critical thinking to assess diverse patient needs and modify care plans accordingly.
• Enhance patient throughput by anticipating admission, discharge, and transfer requirements.
• Oversee nursing functions during assigned shifts, ensuring quality care and resource management.
• Adhere to patient safety practices and regulations to deliver effective nursing services.
Technical Competencies:
• Comply with clinical policies and standards, providing constructive feedback for improvements.
• Maintain and update accurate patient records, ensuring adherence to best practices.

• Process medical orders accurately, preventing errors and ensuring clear communication.
• Interpret patient charts effectively, addressing any inaccuracies.
• Ensure a safe environment by addressing physiological and psychological patient needs.
