Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the nursery holds shift accountability for providing care to Newborn Nursery patients in a level 2 special care nursery in an LDRP setting during the immediate neonatal phase. The nurse will utilize the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act and Hospital policy and procedures. The registered nurse demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the safe delivery of care. They maintain clinical competencies through continuing education and delegate patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of the available staff, providing direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering patient care.
Responsibilities
• Provide care for newborns in a level 2 special care nursery.
• Utilize critical thinking and scientific judgment in patient care.
• Plan for safe delivery of care in collaboration with other healthcare staff.
• Maintain clinical competencies through ongoing education.
• Delegate and supervise patient care tasks as required.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
• 2 years of experience in level 2 special care nursery required; labor and delivery experience preferred.
• Oregon licensure required upon hire.
• NRP, ACLS, and BLS Certification required.
• STABLE certification preferred.
