Job Description
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Transplant is critical to ensuring the successful conduct of surgical procedures. The RN will provide care for patients undergoing heart, kidney, liver, and lung transplant surgeries. This role involves direct patient care and collaboration with the surgical team, maintaining high standards of infection control and patient safety throughout surgical operations.
Responsibilities
• Assist with transplant surgeries and manage intraoperative care.
• Effectively utilize surgical equipment and instrumentation, including Misonix/CUSA.
• Participate in student and staff training as a teaching facility resource.
• Administer and monitor medications and interventions as needed.
• Implement infection control and emergency management protocols.
• Ensure proper handling and labeling of specimens.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
• MUST have a minimum of 2 years of direct transplant nursing experience, particularly with liver, heart, lung, and kidney transplants.
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required at the time of application.
• NIHSS certification must be obtained prior to the start date.
• Experience with general surgical procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, and mastectomy preferred.
