Job Description
This position accepts the responsibility and accountability for the delivery of patient care with the multidisciplinary team while using the nursing process and maintaining professional nursing standards. Birth Center and Pediatrics are considered “sister” units and staff float are expected to float between these units.
Responsibilities
• Assess and evaluate the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs, documenting patient/family responses to nursing interventions.
• Develop and implement the patient’s plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on standards of nursing practice, health center policy, and patient/family needs.
• Guide and direct patient care activities for both Birth Center and Pediatrics populations, utilizing clinical/critical thinking skills and evidence-based practice.
• Provide daily direction and guidance to Licensed Practical Nurses and Nurse Assistants.
• Facilitate and implement learning opportunities to meet the educational needs of patients/families by assessing learning needs and formulating teachable moments.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
• Current, valid nursing license.
• Experience in Birth Center and Pediatrics is preferred.
