Registered Nurse (RN) – Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) Join a collaborative, patient-centered ambulatory surgery team where your clinical expertise truly makes a difference. We are seeking a Registered Nurse – Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) to join our fast-paced ambulatory surgery environment. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, self-motivated RN who enjoys patient education, care coordination, and partnering closely with providers to ensure safe, high-quality surgical outcomes. As a PAT RN, you will play a critical role in preparing patients for surgery—serving as an advocate, educator, and clinical resource for both patients and families. What You’ll Do • Conduct comprehensive pre-admission screenings and assessments for patients scheduled for ambulatory surgery • Identify allergies, medical conditions, and exclusion criteria using established protocols • Coordinate and obtain required clearances, consults, and pre-surgical testing • Perform pre-surgical testing including EKGs, blood draws, and nasal/oropharyngeal swabs • Collaborate closely with providers to ensure all pre-surgical requirements are completed accurately and on time • Provide clear, compassionate patient education to ensure understanding and comfort throughout the process • Accurately document assessments, testing, and communications in the EMR • Monitor daily PAT schedules and help coordinate an efficient workflow • Serve as a clinical resource for PAT team members through strong assessment skills and clinical knowledge • Proactively identify and help resolve patient safety concerns What We’re Looking For • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing • Active Maine RN license or eligible for licensure • 2+ years of clinical experience in a medical practice, hospital, or healthcare setting • BLS certification (required) • Orthopedic or ambulatory surgery experience is a plus • Strong communication, organization, and care coordination skills • Ability to work independently while thriving in a team-based environment • Commitment to professionalism, patient confidentiality, and excellent customer service • Comfort with EMR systems and general computer proficiency Why You’ll Love This Role • Predictable ambulatory care environment • Strong collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams • Opportunity to focus on patient education, safety, and care coordination • Supportive culture that values teamwork, professionalism, and continuous learning • Meaningful impact on patient outcomes before surgery even begins If you’re a compassionate RN who enjoys preparation, education, and proactive patient care—and you want to be part of a team that values quality and collaboration—we encourage you to apply.
