Job Overview Fairview Health Services is searching for a hardworking RN who is looking for specializes in Bariatric.This positon is approved for 80 hours every two weeks. Specializes as a clinician with specific expertise in the care of the bariatric patient. Performs clinical functions, consultation and management of bariatric surgery cases for the MHealth Fairview Surgery program as well as interdisciplinary collaboration, marketing and education for the program. Responsibilities • Performs outpatient and telephone triage assessments and identification of current or potential health problems before and after bariatric surgery. • Assesses the physical, social, and psychological and spiritual pre- and post-operative needs of bariatric surgery patients. • Evaluates effectiveness of interventions provided by direct care givers with ongoing patient evaluation and nursing assessment. Continuously seeks to increase the quality and value of services provided to our customers. Support the development of written protocols and pathways including the education of nursing staff detailing the rapid communication and basic response to critical patient findings that are specifically required to minimize delays in the diagnosis and treatment of serious adverse events. • Participates in community outreach related to promoting continued education of Bariatric Care and morbid obesity. • Provides documentation and maintains the MHealth Fairview Epic electronic medical record for the bariatric patients. • Educate patient and families using multiple methods based on individual needs. • Acts as the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (MBS) Program Coordinator serving as the liaison between the bariatric center and MBSAQIP, and between the facility and all surgeons performing metabolic and bariatric surgery at the center and general surgeons providing call coverage. Also responsible for accurate and timely submission of outcomes data in conjunction with the MBS Clinical Reviewer. • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements. • Assist manager in maintaining call schedule provided by all covering surgeons as needed along with access of the call schedule to all departments of the facility that provide care for metabolic and bariatric patients. Required Qualifications • Associates Degree in Nursing • 3 years medical/surgical experience • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License Upon Hire • Bariatric Nurse Cert Upon Hire Preferred Qualifications • Bachelors Degree in Nursing • Experience in a bariatric program including electronic bariatric database experience • Experience in Case Coordination/Management • Demonstrated background in interviewing, counseling, and research • Knowledge of obesity, related co-morbid conditions and bariatric surgical procedures • Understanding of weight loss problems and issues.
