RN (Registered Nurse) - Med Surg (Medical Surgical) in Ely, NV

Trauma Level: CAH Charting System: MEDITECH Unit Notes Department: Medical Surgical | Tele/MedSurg Float • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NALS* • # Beds: 25 (typical census is from 2-10 patients). • Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4 • Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NALS. • Common Diagnoses: Resp, sepsis, post operative general surgery, diagnostic cath. AVG loss 2 days. CHF exacerbations, COPD, PN, DM. 3-way foley CBI, infections, cellulitis. - Experience: Must be flexible in working ED and MedSurg, team player, and willing to learn. One CNA- work as team and do primary care. • Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Dopamine, levophed, abx, chemo, insulin drips. (don t have to have experience with all of the drips, they will teach) Pharmacy will help educate on medications and precautions. They need to be open and up front with charge if they are not comfortable with something. • Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit?: No techs, central station in nursing station, nurses read and mount strips. • Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse takes light assignment. • Are there nurse aids on this unit/ratios: One CNA on MedSurg, but they assist in other areas as well. • RT Equipment: Nasal cannula, stable bipap. No vents. • Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hour shifts 0645-715. Have a scheduler. They try to accommodate requests. May be filling in holes. Schedule is out 4 weeks at a time. - Weekend Requirement: Yes - as the needs arise. - Holiday Requirement: Yes - so the needs of the unit are met. • Call or a Standby requirement: No - Floating Requirements: Yes - will be required to work both MS and ED. • Scrub Color: None, hospital grade uniforms. • Department Specific Orientation: Yes, one day paperwork and computer work, 2 day orientation on floor.
