• Department: Surgery Pre-Op
• Schedule: Full Time, Weekdays, 5am-2:30pm (36 hr/wk)
• Hospital: Dell Seton Medical Center-UT
• Location: 1500 Red River St, Austin, TX 787801

Responsibilities
Communicate with patients prior to scheduled surgery to ensure that required patient education and
clinical assessment are accomplished.
• Conduct an in-depth interview with patient to ensure full understanding of the surgical procedure, required preparation, and all other relevant information.
• Review patient’s medical history and medications, assess health status, and identify any medical anomalies that may impact planned surgery.
• Initiate consultation with other physicians and/or order additional pre-operative testing, as needed.
• Provide counsel to patient or patient’s representative regarding timing, transportation before and after surgery, and planning for in-patient stay as needed.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Education:
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR professional licensure at time of hire required.
Additional Preferences
Preferred Education and Experience:
• BSN
• 3 year ED or ICU experience preferred
