Job Overview
Fairview has an immediate opening for an RN to join our team at the M Health Fairview Southdale Medical Clinic.The poistion is approved for 80 hours every two week.
The registered nurse is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and providing professional nursing care for patients in an ambulatory care setting. While following established standards and protocols, the registered nurse delivers care that is sensitive to the unique needs of the ages served by the clinic. The RN provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established nursing standards and practices. As a member of the care team, the RN supports quality patient and family-centered care principles through performing a variety of high-level functions within a care team to support the needs of the healthcare team and patients/families. The nurse will educate patients and the public about various medical conditions, maintain complete, timely and accurate clinical documentation for each patient and continually look for opportunities to improve processes and workflow.
Responsibilities
• Assess patient needs and identifies expected nursing outcomes.
• Implement nursing interventions based on plan of care.
• Evaluates care and the patient’s response to interventions and expected outcomes.
• Delivers care as delegated by physician/authorized practitioner to assigned patient population, or individual patient.
• Use communication strategies to achieve desirable outcomes.
• Continuously work to improve work processes, environment, and the overall experience to serve customers and meet business goals.
• Works directly with the MBS Medical Director and serves as liaison between MBSAQIP and our center. The MBS Coordinator position is fully integrated in the organization and they have the authority and resources to fulfill all defined duties.
• Administrates the MBS Committee. Attends at least two of the three MBSAQIP required meetings, one of which must be the annual comprehensive review meeting, as well as the majority of all other meetings.
• Assists in program development, managing the accreditation process, ensuring continuous compliance with MBSAQIP Standards, maintaining relevant pathways and protocols, patient education, monitoring outcomes data and collection, QI initiatives, and the education of relevant staff with a focus on metabolic and bariatric patient safety.
• Supports the development of written protocols and education of nursing staff detailing the rapid communication and basic response to critical patient findings that are specifically required to minimize delays in the diagnosis and treatment of serious adverse events.
• Serve as the liaison between the facility and all metabolic and bariatric proceduralists at the center and any general surgeons providing call coverage.
• Assists in maintaining the documentation of the call schedule provided by all covering surgeons, as well as providing access to the call schedule to all departments of the facility that provide care for metabolic and bariatric patients.
• Collaborate with the MBS Clinical Reviewer to ensure timely submission of outcomes data to the MBSAQIP Registry.
• Must prepare the site for reaccreditation surveys; must be present for and actively participate in each MBSAQIP site reaccreditation survey at their center.
• Provides education for pre-op patients undergoing bariatric surgery and also serves as Support Group Facilitator for those who are planning to obtain or have already gone through Bariatric surgery.
• Assists with identifying EPIC standard orders and pathways for bariatric patients
• Educates staff about bariatric surgery and metabolic syndrome.
• Assists with prior authorization for weight loss medications and bariatric surgeries.
Required Qualifications
• 1 year previous healthcare experience in an ambulatory setting
• MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
Preferred Qualifications
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
