RN, Staff Nurse - Med/Surg Float Pool - Full-time **$10/hr. float differential for qualified applicants** - Nights (46357) -Erlanger Baroness Hospital Chattanooga, TN RN Staff Nurse Regular - Non-exempt - Full-time - Standard Hours 36 Description Job Summary: A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Medical Center who is responsible for direct and / or indirect care of the patient. Education: Required: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Preferred: BSN Experience: Required: Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations; knowledge of current trends and new developments; knowledge of principles and practices of nursing. Preferred: Medical Surgical experience Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration Required: Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee. BLS completed prior to going to unit/department and maintained going forward. ACLS within 30 days of hire The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents. Preferred: N/A Department Position Summary: Must be able to provide kind and compassionate care to patients, many of which will have significant cognitive impairment. Must be able to work with patients with a variety of illnesses. Must have good assessment skills to gather information, relay relevant data to other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team and participate in the development of the multidisciplinary treatment plan of care. Must possess communication skills to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, co-workers, ancillary departments and community agencies. Must possess supervision skills to assure that staff work efficiently to complete assignments in a timely manner, consistently delivers excellent care and assures the smooth functioning of their shift and a smooth transition to the next shift to support continuum of quality care. The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective to the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures. Ability to assess patients between the ages of 15 and older, select, develop, implement and evaluate the plan of care. Ability to administer pharmacological drugs as ordered, perform procedures and operate equipment necessary for patient care as assigned.
