School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) - Aurora, Illinois in Aurora, IL

A Registered Nurse (RN) with school nursing experience is needed in Aurora, IL, to provide care in a middle school setting. This contract role runs for the current school year (CSY) and involves supporting students with a variety of medical needs in multiple specialized programs. Key Responsibilities: • Monitor and manage seizures for students with supportive medical needs. • Provide care for students, including administering G-tube feeds and medications. • Ride the bus with a student requiring ongoing medical observation. • Use tracheostomy (trach) and diabetic care skills, which are highly preferred. • Support a visually impaired classroom in administering medical treatments. • Cover other classrooms and buildings when students are not in attendance full-time. • Maintain documentation and communicate effectively with staff and families. Work Schedule and Programs: • Daily hours: 7:45 AM - 3:15 PM. • Caseloads include Kindergarten through 1st grade, middle school students in the Structured Learning Environment Program, and students in the Transition Program with caseloads ranging from 18 to 22. • Provide care across several programs including Supportive Medical Needs, Structured Learning Environment, and Transition. Qualifications: • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with valid PEL (Professional Educator License). • Previous experience in school nursing required. • Strong skills in seizure management. • Preferred skills: tracheostomy care and diabetic management. • Ability to administer G-tube feeds and medications confidently. • Professional, flexible, and able to cover multiple settings within the district.
