
School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) | Fruitland, New Mexico in Allen, MD
Job Description
A Registered Nurse (RN) opportunity is available to provide essential healthcare services within a K-12 school setting in Fruitland, NM. This contract position runs through the current school year, ending May 29, 2026, with a weekly commitment of 37.5 hours onsite. The role supports multiple schools and plays a critical role in maintaining the health and well-being of students and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as Lead Nurse, overseeing school Health Aides
• Provide first aid and basic healthcare to students and staff
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed
• Support students managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and epilepsy
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of health office visits, medication logs, and immunization records
• Assist with student health screenings and support IEP/504 plans
• Respond effectively to health emergencies
• Collaborate closely with school personnel, parents, and healthcare professionals
• Travel between 23 schools within the district as needed
Qualifications and Desired Skills:
• Current RN licensure
• CPR/AED certification
• Experience in a school or pediatric healthcare setting preferred
• Strong organizational and communication abilities
• Ability to pass background check and fingerprint clearance
• Willingness to travel between schools
• Bilingual in English and Navajo (Din) is highly desirable
• Familiarity with IEPs, individualized student care plans, school health regulations, and FERPA guidelines is a plus
