School-Based Registered Nurse (RN) - Laurel, Maryland in Laurel, MD

Providing nursing care in an educational environment designed for students with visual impairments requires a unique blend of clinical expertise and compassion. This full-time contract position supports K-12 students in a specialized school setting focused on the blind community, ensuring their health and safety throughout the school day. Key Responsibilities: • Deliver comprehensive nursing services to students across all grade levels, including medication administration, health assessments, and emergency care. • Monitor and manage specific health needs related to visual impairments and other conditions affecting this population. • Collaborate with school staff, families, and healthcare providers to develop individualized health plans. • Document all nursing interventions and maintain accurate medical records. • Assist with mobility and physical support as needed, including safe positioning and transfers. Qualifications and Experience: • Current Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) licensure is required. • Proven experience in school nursing or pediatric care, preferably with special needs populations. • Physical capability to push and pull 100+ pounds and lift up to 50 pounds. • Comfortable working evening hours: Monday through Thursday from 3 PM to 11 PM, and Friday from 12:45 PM to 3:45 PM. • Strong communication skills for interacting effectively with students, staff, and families. Location and Schedule: • Position based in Laurel, MD. • Full-time, five days per week. • Contract duration: Current School Year (CSY).
