We are seeking a School Nurse 1:1 (RN or LPN) for our CARES School, located in Downingtown, PA. Devereux Center for Autism Research and Education Services (CARES) is an Approved Private School program licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education that provides services to students, ages 5 to 21, diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. CARES provides an environment that focuses on teaching each student based on his or her unique strengths and needs. Programming is focused on increasing independence for each student. Being a School Nurse 1:1 (RN or LPN) at Devereux has its Advantages You will work with other dedicated professionals in the school who share your passion for helping individuals in need. In this position you will support one student directly who has a severe seizure disorder along with supporting the classroom assigned. Every day as a School Nurse 1:1 (RN or LPN) you will: • Ensure the safety of all students • Document all medication administrations and all related activities • Be responsible for the direct care and wellbeing of a single assigned student • Monitor the student for seizures and provide care as needed • Administer rescue medications to the student when necessary and monitor the student after administering rescue medications • Assist with toileting and transition of the student You will be offered: • Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm • Follows school calendar for days off + 2 additional "flex days off" • RN Compensation= $40.00-$45.60/hr • RN + School Nurse Certification= $42.00 - $47.60 /hr. • LPN Compensation= $32.00 - $36.48 /hr. • Paid CEUs as part of our nurse continuing education program. • ASCEND – the first career accelerator program exclusively designed to give behavioral healthcare workers - the career guidance, one-on-one coaching, skills and financial assistance you need to reach your full potential. Children and young adults may come to Devereux as a day student, or as a part of residential treatment. Each student has an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP), which outlines goals for skill development and the best strategies by which the student can reach his/her goals. A multi-disciplinary team, including the individual’s parent(s) or guardian, regularly reviews the plan to discuss challenges, progress and adjustments to goals as appropriate. Devereux Pennsylvania Children’s Services (DPACS) center serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives. A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments. Each year, more than 1,000 children and adolescents receive specialized care, in the environment best suited to the unique challenges they face, all with the goal of providing each child with the academic, social, emotional and life skills needed to flourish in their home community. #sponsored Qualifications EDUCATION: Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Pennsylvania preferred. Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Pennsylvania also accepted. EXPERIENCE: Previous clinical experience in a behavioral healthcare setting and/or school setting strongly preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Significant amounts of walking, sitting, and standing. Some lifting and/or managing resistance required related to applying physical intervention techniques. Proficient use of computers and office equipment.
