JOB DESCRIPTION Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A contract opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide one-on-one nursing support to a medically fragile student in a middle school setting. The nurse will be responsible for accompanying and assisting the student during transportation to and from school, ensuring their health and safety throughout the day. Location: This assignment serves a student traveling between Billerica, MA, and Lexington, MA, with the workweek aligned to school hours Monday through Friday. The nurse will assist the student at home, prepare them for transportation on a special education van, and support them during the commute to their educational placement. Responsibilities include: • Providing direct nursing care during transportation from the students home to school and back • Assisting the student with preparation for the van ride each morning and afternoon • Collaborating with the nursing staff present at the out-of-district educational campus • Floating to other nursing roles within the Billerica Public Schools district as needed Desired Qualifications: • Current and valid RN or LPN license • Experience in school nursing or working with medically fragile children • Ability to provide compassionate, attentive care during transit and educational hours • Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with school staff and healthcare team This contract position follows the school year calendar with a start date as soon as possible through June 2026. Hours typically begin between 7:00 and 7:30 AM and end around 2:00 PM. The role offers an important opportunity to make a direct impact on a students educational experience and health management.
