Specialty Infusion Registered Nurse in Charlotte, NC
Job Description
Advanced Infusion Nurse | Position Description | Position Summary
DOMO Health is seeking experienced, compassionate Infusion Nurses to deliver advanced, high-quality, patient-centered infusion therapy in home and outpatient settings. This role is responsible for the safe administration of specialty IV medications, comprehensive patient assessments, precise clinical documentation, and close collaboration with interdisciplinary partners to ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes.
This opportunity is ideal for nurses who value clinical excellence, professional autonomy, and making a direct, meaningful impact on patient wellness in the community.
Primary Responsibilities | Infusion Therapy Administration
• The Infusion Nurse provides direct patient care by administering prescribed intravenous medications, biologics, fluids, and therapies in accordance with provider orders, pharmacy protocols, and DOMO Health clinical standards. This includes preparing and operating infusion equipment such as IV pumps and elastomeric devices while maintaining strict sterile technique.
• Each visit begins with a comprehensive pre-infusion assessment, including review of medications, allergies, medical history, and prior infusion responses. Baseline vital signs are obtained, and the patient is evaluated for any signs of acute illness or contraindications to therapy.
• During the infusion, the nurse closely monitors patient response, performs vital sign checks per protocol, identifies early signs of adverse reactions, and intervenes promptly and appropriately when indicated. Nurses provide patient and caregiver education on the infusion process, expected effects, hydration and self-care strategies, and clear guidance on when to contact DOMO Health or the prescribing provider.
Documentation and Reporting
The Infusion Nurse completes accurate, timely, and real-time clinical documentation within the electronic medical record system. Documentation includes medication administration details, patient assessments, vital signs, responses to therapy, and any complications or interventions. All medication errors, adverse events, and significant patient concerns are reported immediately to the Clinical Nurse Manager and managed according to policy.
Collaboration and Communication
This role requires consistent communication with pharmacy partners regarding medication delivery, dosing adjustments, and clinical issues that arise during visits. Nurses collaborate with physicians, nurse managers, and care teams to support individualized infusion care plans. Professional, compassionate communication with patients and families is essential to foster trust, adherence, and positive care experiences.
Compliance and Safety
Infusion Nurses adhere strictly to HIPAA, OSHA, CDC, INS, and DOMO Health clinical and safety standards. This includes consistent hand hygiene, proper PPE use, and infection control practices during every visit. Nurses maintain a fully stocked emergency and anaphylaxis kit and ensure safe handling, administration, and disposal of medications and biohazardous materials.
Required Qualifications
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the practicing state
• Minimum of two years of recent IV or infusion therapy experience (home infusion preferred)
• Demonstrated proficiency in peripheral IV insertion and maintenance
• Experience accessing PICC lines and implanted ports preferred
• Familiarity with specialty infusion therapies such as IVIG, biologics, monoclonal antibodies, and intravenous antibiotics
• CRNI or IVIg certification preferred
• Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, communication, and independent decision-making skills
• Comfort and proficiency with electronic medical record systems
Working Conditions
This position involves providing care in patient homes and outpatient environments and requires travel between patient locations. Scheduling is flexible and based on caseload and geographic needs. Nurses must be able to move freely within home environments, stand and kneel as needed, and safely lift and transport up to 25 pounds of equipment. Strict adherence to DOMO Health infection control and safety policies is mandatory.
