The ICU RN utilizes clinical expertise, critical thinking, and advanced technology to monitor, assess, and manage complex patient conditions while collaborating closely with physicians and interdisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill and high-acuity patients • Continuously assess patient conditions and respond promptly to changes • Monitor vital signs, hemodynamic status, ventilators, and invasive lines • Administer medications, IV drips, blood products, and treatments as prescribed • Perform and assist with advanced procedures and emergency interventions • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in EMR systems • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and healthcare team members • Educate patients and families on treatment plans and recovery processes • Adhere to hospital policies, infection control, and patient safety standards • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and professional development Required Qualifications • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific or compact license) • BLS certification (American Heart Association) • ACLS certification (required or within a specified timeframe) • Minimum 1 year of ICU or Critical Care experience (preferred; varies by facility) • Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills Preferred Qualifications • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) • Experience with ventilated patients and hemodynamic monitoring • CCRN certification (preferred) • Experience with EMR systems (Epic preferred in many facilities) Work Environment • Fast-paced, high-acuity ICU setting • May include day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts • Requires standing, lifting, and responding to emergencies Core Competencies • Critical thinking and decision-making • Compassionate patient care • Multitasking and time management • Team collaboration • Stress management About Pyramid Consulting Supercharge your career with Pyramid Consulting.
