Job Description

Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Provide specialized nursing care in a step-down unit focused on general medical and oncology patients. This role requires delivering chemotherapy via IV, starting IVs, and utilizing specific medical equipment such as Welch Allyn vital sign towers, Sigma IV pumps, and EPIC for documentation. Experience and certification in oncology nursing are essential to effectively support this patient population. Qualifications and Desired Experience: • Current Michigan RN License and BLS (AHA) certification required • ONCC (Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation) or ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) certification mandatory; pending ONS certification will be accepted, but ONCC must be current and in hand • Minimum of 2 years experience in PCU/Stepdown nursing • Skilled in administering chemotherapy intravenously and starting IVs • Familiarity with Welch Allyn vital sign monitors, Sigma IV pumps, and EPIC documentation system • Ability to work night shifts with 3 consecutive 12-hour shifts (7:00 pm to 7:30 am) • Flexibility to float to other medical-surgical areas, including acute units and the emergency room, as needed • Weekend work every other weekend; block scheduling may be available upon request Responsibilities: • Manage nurse-to-patient ratios ranging from 1:4 to 1:6, adjusted according to patient acuity and chemotherapy admissions • Collaborate with charge nurses and support staff to ensure quality patient care • Document patient care accurately using EPIC • Adhere to safety protocols for chemotherapy administration and patient monitoring • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams Location Overview:Situated in Hastings, Michigan, this role places you in a vibrant community known for its welcoming atmosphere and accessible amenities.
